Tsukiji.
Welcome to one of the biggest fish market in Tokyo!
I always wanted to go here since it really has that busy asian feel with
the tight space with lots of people.
I think this may be one of the most popular tourist place in Tokyo.
The area is just so exciting with small food places that offers good quality and stores that specialize in cooking utensils.
This is the fish area. People go on these carts to move food from one place to another.
I went at around 11am which is past the peak time.
If you would like to go at the busiest time I suggest 5~6 a.m.
On the other side of the market they have the fruits and vegetable market.
Look at the cube watermelon!
It's just crazy how Japanese fruit is so expensive but so tasty at the same time.
I'm not so pleased with the amount of garbage that comes out from these market everyday though..
I decided to have lunch at one of the local restaurants in the tsukiji area.
I had the sashimi lunch set. So fresh. It is just soo tasty!
This is the first yoshinoya beef bowl chain. They even have a restaurant in NYC.
I then went to a temple near the area.
The funny thing with these temples that they worship different species that is used in sushi.
Like fish, shrimp, and eggs from chicken.
I wrote a wish for my friend for the Tanabata festival.
Just making sure my Japanese is correct on the cellphone.
Egg God!
This is me putting up the wishes on the tree.
And I did a little tour of the tsukiji area.
And went home and ate tasty sticky rice snack :)
Ohhhhhh - i heard you can buy a bowl of rice and then go around sampling sashimi or grilled fish around tsukiji! Can you really?! :DDD
ReplyDeleteReally?! That wouldve been great! I didnt go at the proper time so the fish market was pretty much dead. Maybe Ill try next time :D
