Day 2 in Fukuoka: Hot spring!

2nd day in Fukuoka was a trip to Yufuin.
Yufuin is a resort for Japanese people as it's filled with hot springs.
It's really an amazing place because every corner you go, you can go into a hot spring!

The two friends we met the day before offered us a ride to Yuufuin.
They also took us around yufuuin as well.

Many many gift shops around the area.

Even the lake and river are hot springs! And because the outside temperature was cold, you can see the steam coming out of the water.

There are restaurants and inns everywhere as well.

The four of us walking to the gift shop street.

Since my roommate is a cat lover we decided to stop by this cat shop.

They have real cats in the store as well.

This is a foot bath called Dr.Fish (i think) where these little fishes stick on to ur foot and eat the dead skin cells.

Fried fish ball like things. Yummy

Little snow man.

There were many asian tourists.

We then decided to take a bath at one of the smaller inns.
Since it was almost closing time we had the outdoor hot spring all to ourselves!
(These hot springs closes in the afternoon to the public and only becomes available to the people who are staying at these inns at night)

There are many rules to hot springs in Japan.
Like
a) You cannot bathe if you have a big and very visible tattoo
b) You have to fully clean yourself before going into the hot spring
c) You cannot take your towels or wear swimming suit inside the bath

I used to not feel very comfortable to become fully naked in front of family and friends but I guess I got used to it now and I fully enjoyed my lonng niceee bath :)

Tourist bus

After our bath we decided to go eat some food special to the land.
This is called zidori.
Zidori is chicken but because of how the chicken is grown the meat is very hard and have a good texture.

This is my tempura. Very tasty as well.

It snowed a bit when we left the restaurant.

Then it became sunny again.

And then kind of dark.

Then came a blizzard.

But the sun came out again.

We stopped by service areas where they have yummy food like this fried sweet potato with sugar coating waiting for us.

It's apparently the first time it snowed this much this year.

A high school boy making a snowman.

It didn't even snow this much in Tokyo.

We then went out after going home for a bit to rest to a pub that night
where many foreigners in fukuoka gather.

It was hilarious that since this guy always misses his stop when he is drunk, he holds this sign that says
"Please wake me up at Akama Station (Preferably before the train/bus actually reaches there)"

Had some bacon pizza

and fish and chips

Walking around the neighbourhood after becoming a little bit tipsy with few drinks.

Long day finished after some long car ride and long baths and long talks with the new friends I made :)

  1. I like your weather observations. I think you should get a job on News Zero announcing the forecast. =P

And that guy is hilarious. How does he ensure the sign is held up properly when he's drunk? Haha.
