It's festival time!! Dance practice everyday!!

Keio University has a festival called Mita Festival every year.
It is one of the biggest school festivals in Japan and collects around 200,000 people each year.
While mita festival is going on, there is no school for a whole week for preparation day, the actual festival which is 4 days and take down the festival day. I have participated in the preparation day and the actual mita festival this year and I am really happy I got to be part of it.

The reason I got to be part of this big event is because  I joined the dance club called revolve.
Keio has several dance clubs but I got to join this particular one with a help of a friend of friend of mine.

We practiced every Saturday and had many other practices when it was close to the event date.

Revolve has several genres (hip-hop, girls hip-hop, lockin, poppin, house,  and punkin) and I joined the hip-hop genre.

Below are the pictures of our practice and of the actual festival.

 

Midnight practice in shibuya from 12am-6am. Japanese ppl are hard working ppl.

We also practice in the cafe after they close the stores.

It gets this dirty and filled with ppl sometimes.

 

A lot of the clubs and circles prepare for this mita fest since summer time because it is such a big event. And we had three "all genre rehearsals" in total!

And after all these practices we finally got to perform on the first day of Mita Fest on the main stage.

I really didn't think that I can participate in something like this when I first started out here in Japan. Since it's hard to join in events like this in our school back in Canada, I am really glad I can dance and participate in an event like this and make close relationship with some people.

I made great memories and if I get the chance I would still like to continue dancing.
