My 2nd Baseball Game in Japan.

On Tuesday. I went to the baseball game AGAIN!
Why again you ask. It's because its so much more fun watching it here then in Canada/States.

Yes there are more free prizes, more hot cheerleaders, more space within each seats for MLB but the mood and the team work within the fan is just soooo amazing here.

My friend lined up from the day before to get these seats because it was the last game of the season. Thank you!!!!

Convenience Store dinner.  $4

Mitarashi dango. Sticky rice with caramel sauce. $1.30

Since its our (Hiroshima Carp's) last game it felt that everyone was really prepared and excited.
A trumpet player practicing.

Today's batter list.

This is Swallow mascot Tsubakuro! They have a mascot for almost every team.
Very cute! Very active. These characters really make the game fun.

Watch the video I took of the sparrow bird.

This time the flag people came to the front to cheer for the team.

And whats also different this time is that I went with around 10 ppl!
They all were much more hardcore carp fan then I am and we had a lot of fun talking, drinking, and  eating while the game was going on. And one of the lady got us university students some beer at the middle of the game. Sports connects us all! I was super happy from the kindness.

Do you notice how this guy has like folded bills in his hand? Apparently its better for us to give it to them that way, so they can count better.

KANPAI! CHEERS!

Snacks from one of our friends.  Japanese traditional snacks  Dagashi 駄菓子 is SO tatsy.

During the break!

Hello Kitty is also here to cheer for the team!

This is me with Hirose's uniform. YAY :D

Edamame and beer and snacks. Heaven~

I love umai bou!

While I ate and talked and watched the game, time passed by and we lost.. AGAIN.. :(
But since this is the last season we stayed until the very end to see the ceremony.

We also stayed to cheer for the other team since they are going to the championships.
Carp team left after they bowed to us.

And another event of that day.
It was Hirotoshi Ishii's last game of his life as he was retiring as a pro baseball player.

When he was thanking his family., fans and even non fans on our side were in tears.

They threw Ishii into the air for celebration.

It really was an awesome moment.

Translates: Thank you for working hard for 16 years.

Ishii then came over to our side and bowed even though we weren't there for his team.
This is called true sportsmanship.

So I came home feeling happy and warm although we lost.
Man I am going to miss going to baseball games.

I hope I can start posting again in March when next season begins!

  1. スポーツマンシップとは本当にいいもんですな。
    数々の試合の中、そんなステキな試合、そんなドラマに遭遇できたのも、ひとえにりんりんの人柄ですな。

    来年もカープ観戦、あずまっちあずぽっしぶる!
