Keio-Waseda Baseball Game

Sou-kei sen.
It's a baseball game verses Keio University and Waseda University.
And it's one of the biggest baseball games of the year.

This may be the third time you've seen a picture of this stadium if uve been keeping up with my blog.
I've been to this Jingu Stadium three times already in the past month.
Ah- I never knew I liked baseball this much.

So we met up at 9 am for a baseball game that starts at 12pm.
We had to come so early because
1) Foreign ppl are always not on time
2) And I dont really know why.
So we walked around the park and went to the convenience store before the game started.

My lunch I bought at the combini (convenience store)

And here we are at the stadium. I actually never been to the front of the stadium because I always just head to the Hiroshima Carp side when I watched the pro baseball games.

This time we split again into two parts. One is Waseda Uni side.
Their school colour is Maroon.

And this is our Keio University side where our school colours are blue and red.

Now we are in the stadium. Each team has a very home-made big ass board behind them.
As you can tell I sat at the pretty back.

And this is the Waseda University side.

We all held these keio papers to make noise and chant for our team.

The players line up.

They bow and let the game begin!

So the fun parts are the same as the pro baseball games in Japan. These so called "Ouen-dan" (Cheerleading group) is one of the main event at baseball games. They move, they chant, they sing. You never get bored watching them.

This is the cheerleaders we had.

This is the Ou-en dan video they had playing.

And below is the video I took of the ou-en dan.

And the group we went with gave us these fans to cheer as well.

The other side is blue.

And these papers also came in handy for screaming and cheering.

Everyone waving their fans.

This is also the towel we got. This towel was made for only Keio x Waseda games!

The live band was also entertaining.
Some times they all stand up and start waving their instruments in air.

One of the only picture I took of the actual baseball game.
We lost by the way. Boo :( If we won we would've gotten the next day off.

Waseda Side

Apparently if we do this and swing around our fingers together
the batter will get three strikes and go out.
It actually worked few times!

---------
At the end it started raining, we lost and nothing good really happened but it was fun just screaming and cheering for our school. Apparently Keio is known for their school spirit and I definitely felt it!!

These are some extra pictures I took on the way to the stadium.

Bunch of ichou leaves. This will all turn yellow in fall.
(Wait it's already fall but its like 20 degrees. When does it ever get cold here)

It's called Smiley Park.

I even created a tag for baseball. Check out my other baseball posts.
